Metal Motivation Monday

SYNOPSIS: 52 posters, every Monday of one year.

OVERVIEW:

Metal Motivitation Monday was a year-long personal illustration and poster project, created throughout 2015. The project challenged me to design 52 original posters in 52 weeks, published every Monday and counting down from 52 to 1. Each one was inspired by a favorite heavy metal song, lyric, or band that was... motivitional. Every piece explored the energy, emotion, and storytelling behind the music through illustration, typography, and concept.

TASK:

The goal of this project was to create something new every week. The crazy deadline pushed me to sketch, concept, and illustrate new work fast, often after hours of my regular 9-to-5. Each poster needed to capture the personality and emotional tone of a specific song or artist while remaining visually distinct within the larger series.

Beyond the artwork itself, the challenge also involved maintaining momentum and creative consistency over the course of an entire year—concepting, illustrating, designing, and promoting a new piece every single week without repetition or creative fatigue.

EXECUTION:

Released weekly, the series was shared on the Metal Motiv website and also on Twitter, Facebook, and Dribbble (under the hashtag #MetalMotivationMonday). It gradually built an international following among music fans, blogs, musicians, and industry professionals.

The posters got attention from some of my favorite bands and opened opportunities to work directly with a few of them.
